Some historic buildings, built over the centuries, have always aroused considerable interest in those who visit Forte dei Marmi. So let's start from the center and therefore from the Forte Lorenese, also called "Fortino" because of its fortified conformation; in fact, it is a building of military origin that over time has become the symbol of the town itself. Built in the eighteenth century by the will of the Lorraine, the work had functions of defense and sighting along the northern coast of what was then the Granducato of Tuscany. Restored in 2004, the appearance of the fortress strongly characterizes the center of the village and contributes to giving it a touch of magic. Inside, on the upper floor, there is the Museum of Satire and Caricature, among the most important of its kind in the world, which constitutes an additional motivation to visit you. Furthermore, on the ground floor there are temporary exhibitions on various subjects.

Walking towards the sea you can meet "La Mancina", the ancient crane used to load large blocks of marble from the quarries of the Apuan Alps into the holds of ships. From there we continue towards the Pontile di Forte dei Marmi which, starting from the coast, unfolds for about 300 meters towards the sea. Once you reach the top, a breathtaking 360 degree view will open around you, from the beautiful Apuan Alps that frame the town to the sea.

The winter sea brings with it the charm and suggestion of the unusual, sensations completely different from those experienced during the summer. The winter season offers the opportunity to fully enjoy the brackish air and the pleasant silence that characterize the deserted beaches and completely free from the bathing establishments. Alone or in company, from the jetty continue south with a gentle walk on the shoreline or on the promenade that runs alongside the beach, ideal for enjoying the magic of the winter sea, delighting your view.

Finally, get lost by wandering around the district called "Imperial Rome" which extends inland from the sea, the one in which, among other things, the St. Mauritius hotel is located. Characterized by very high maritime pines and lots of greenery, inside it are located the villas with their immense parks designed by famous architects including Giuseppe Pagano, Giovanni Michelucci and Giò Ponti.
